For patients travelling from abroad

Dental Treatment in Türkiye

This page sets out exactly how treatment abroad works at Clinova Dental — how long each treatment takes, what a fixed quote includes, what happens on each day in Ankara, and the questions worth asking any clinic before you book.

How it works

From first message to final review

  1. A phone showing the Clinova mark, held in one hand.

    01

    Send your records

Photographs of your smile, or a panoramic X-ray if you have one, by WhatsApp or e-mail. Tell us what bothers you and roughly when you could travel.

  2. A patient coordinator at a laptop, wearing a headset.

    02

    Receive a plan

Within one working day: a written treatment plan, the alternatives considered, a day-by-day schedule and a fixed all-inclusive quote. No obligation.

  3. A traveller with a suitcase at an airport window, an aircraft taking off outside.

    03

    Arrange the trip

We coordinate airport transfer and hotel, and set the appointment sequence around your flights. You book the flight; we handle everything on the ground.

  4. A dental treatment room with a window looking out over Ankara.

    04

    Treatment in Ankara

Day one is examination, 3D imaging and confirmation of the plan against live data. Treatment follows the agreed schedule, with reviews built in before you fly home.

  5. A woman at home on a sofa, reading something on her phone.

    05

    Aftercare from home

You leave with records, an implant passport where relevant and a written maintenance protocol for your own dentist. Remote review stays open to you.

Why patients travel for dental care

The honest answer is cost. Laboratory work, clinical time and overheads are substantially lower in Türkiye than in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands or the United Kingdom, and for treatment that runs into several thousand euros the difference outweighs the price of flights and a hotel. That is a legitimate reason and there is no need to dress it up.

What matters is that the saving comes from the cost base and not from the treatment. Cheaper laboratory work is not the same as thinner ceramic; lower overheads are not the same as skipping the 3D scan. When comparing quotes, compare what is inside them.

How long you need in Ankara

Plan around treatment time, not flight prices. These are typical ranges; your written plan gives exact dates.

What a fixed quote covers

At Clinova Dental one written price includes the consultation, all imaging taken at the clinic, the surgical or restorative procedure itself, all laboratory work and materials, temporaries where the plan requires them, follow-up appointments during your stay, and remote review afterwards. Where a bone graft or sinus lift is likely, it is priced in the plan in advance rather than presented as a necessary addition once treatment has started.

What the price does not include is flights, meals, and accommodation unless you ask us to book it. Airport transfers are arranged by us.

A typical implant visit, day by day

Day 1 — Arrival. Transfer from Esenboğa Airport to your hotel. No appointment; rest.

Day 2 — Examination and imaging. Clinical examination, cone-beam CT, review of the plan against the live scan, and a full discussion of findings, alternatives and risks before consent is signed. If anything has changed from the remote plan, you hear it now.

Day 3 — Surgery. Implant placement under local anaesthetic, typically 20–30 minutes per fixture. Post-operative instructions in your own language, medication, and contact details for the evening.

Day 4 — Review. Short appointment to check healing and answer questions. Most patients feel well enough to see the city from this point.

Day 5 — Departure or a further review, depending on the case. Records and instructions are handed over before you leave.

Getting here and staying

Esenboğa Airport (ESB) has direct connections to Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Munich, Berlin, Vienna, Amsterdam, Brussels, London and Istanbul, among others. The transfer to the clinic in Çankaya takes around forty-five minutes and is arranged by us. We can book a hotel within a short drive of the clinic at negotiated rates, or you can arrange your own — Çankaya has a wide range and is central for restaurants, museums and the embassy district.

Citizens of most European countries do not need a visa for short tourist stays in Türkiye; check your own country's current requirements before booking, as rules change.

Questions worth asking any clinic before you book

  • Will you quote before seeing an X-ray? If yes, the quote is a sales estimate. Insist on imaging first.
  • Which implant system, exactly? A named, internationally distributed brand with published long-term data — and confirmation that you will be given the lot numbers.
  • How much enamel will be removed for veneers, and how is that controlled? "Through an approved mock-up" is the answer you want.
  • Is grafting priced in the plan or added later? It should appear in writing before you travel.
  • Who is responsible if something fails, and what exactly is covered? Ask for it in writing rather than as reassurance.
  • What documentation do I take home? Radiographs, materials used, implant passport, aftercare protocol — all of it, as standard.

Being realistic about risk

Treatment abroad concentrates work into a short period, which is efficient but leaves less room to stage a complication. Implants can fail to integrate. Ceramic can fracture. Gums recede over years. These outcomes occur in every country, at every price point, and no clinic that tells you otherwise is being straight with you. What a good clinic can offer is honest case selection, documented work that another dentist can take over, a written remedy policy, and the willingness to say when a case is not suitable for compressed treatment. Those are the things to judge us on.

Before you ask

Frequently asked questions

Is dental treatment in Türkiye safe?

Clinical standards vary between clinics, exactly as they do in every country — the country is not the variable, the clinic is. Judge a clinic on whether it images before quoting, names the materials it uses, gives you the documentation, explains risks in a language you read, and puts its remedy policy in writing. A clinic that does all five is a reasonable risk anywhere; one that does none is a poor risk in London as much as in Ankara.

Why is it so much cheaper than at home?

Laboratory work, clinical staff time, premises and insurance all cost substantially less in Türkiye, and the exchange rate amplifies the difference for euro and sterling earners. The saving comes from the cost base, not from the treatment. What you should check is that the specification is equivalent — same implant brands, same ceramics, same imaging — because that is where quotes genuinely differ.

Can I combine treatment with a holiday?

Partly, and with realistic expectations. After whitening, bonding or a review appointment you can do whatever you like. After implant surgery or extractions you should rest for two to three days, avoid alcohol, sun and strenuous activity, and plan sightseeing for the second half of the trip. Full-arch surgery needs a genuinely quiet week.

What if I need an adjustment after I get home?

Minor adjustments — a high contact on a crown, a rough edge — can usually be done by any dentist in an appointment, and we will speak to them directly and send the records. For anything attributable to our work we arrange the remedy, and the terms are set out in writing with your plan rather than left to goodwill.

Do I need travel or medical insurance?

We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers medical treatment abroad and trip cancellation. Standard EHIC-type arrangements do not apply in Türkiye, and elective dental treatment is not covered by public health insurance in any case. Check whether your policy excludes planned medical travel — many do, and specialist medical-travel cover exists for that reason.

How do I pay?

The amount is the one in your written plan. We confirm accepted payment methods, the currency and the payment schedule when your plan is issued, so there are no surprises on arrival.
